Coordinator: Job Description, Requirements and Responsibilities

 

This position will be a part-time contract position for 20-30 hours per week.  We are looking for an individual that is a self-starter.  The coordinator should have a minimum of five years experience in training and education and understand business principles and should have at least a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.  Experience as an entrepreneur/small business owner or working with entrepreneurs/small businesses is a plus.

 

The coordinator will report to the Executive Director of the Fulton Economic Development Corporation and will also manage and work with a steering committee.

 

Requirements:

 

·        Excellent oral and written communications skills

·        Ability to work with a variety of groups of people

·        The skill set to help employers identify training needs and to help obtain relevant training programs

·        Experienced and/or able to work with state-funded grant programs

·        Ability to help companies and individuals develop training and education strategies

·        A clear understanding of business and business practices

·        Ability to work with colleges and universities in establishing college-level programs at the learning center

·        Self directed and able to function successfully in an unstructured environment

·        Ability to speak publicly to groups

 

Responsibilities:

 

·        Develop positive working relationships with learning institutions as well as having a solid understanding of their educational offerings.

·        Coordinate the development of career awareness programs for the emerging workforce and secondary students.

·        Work with other organizations in the county developing and enhancing adult education and training for incumbent workers and those unemployed or underemployed.

·        Network with businesses, educational institutions, workforce development.

·        Assist emerging workforce in identifying educational and employment     opportunities using the network.

·        Foster and maintain successful relationships with businesses in the county.

·        Assist with recruitment efforts targeting college career fairs, former Fulton County graduates, job fairs, etc.

·        Educate students, parents, employed, and underemployed persons about career opportunities, i.e. increase career awareness.

·        Communicate specific information to the schools concerning "number of jobs", "types of jobs", "specific training and skills requirements", etc. as provided by industries in Fulton County.

·        Identify current job openings.  Publicize openings through available referral systems.

·        Assist with creation and design of promotional material, workforce brochures, event flyers and brochures, power point presentations.

·        Set up roundtable meetings/internships with school faculty and industry.  These sessions will provide information (company brochures, videos) about products, services, hiring procedure, etc.

·        Keep website information pertaining to Workforce Development and Job Opportunities up-to-date.

·        Monthly reporting to Board.
