Goal 1:  Near Term Economic Development Strategy:  The health and vitality of our current industries is a top priority.  Promote the retention and expansion of our current industries.
   Key Characteristics:
  • Increased profitability and growth of existing business and industry.
  • Breadth of high quality jobs and increased employment bases in the community that are sustained over time.
  • Synergistic and balanced relationships between business and industry growth and community development. 

Goal 2:  Mid-Term Economic Development Strategy:  It is essential to have a clear strategy to attract specific industries and types of jobs to Fulton County.
 
   Key Characteristics: 
  • Increased number and quality of jobs in the community that are sustained over time.
  • Targeted recruitment of key industries that will have a positive impact on the county average wage.

Goal 3:  Long-term Economic Development Strategy:  For the long-term viability of rural communities we must embrace the needs of our local entrepreneurs. 
 
   Key Characteristics: 
  • Create a culture that that embraces the spirit of entrepreneurship.
  • Promote successes of entrepreneurs and connect to potential entrepreneurs.
  • Realize that the vibrancy and growth of small business is key to future growth in rural America.

Goal 4:  Add to the current infrastructure in Fulton County to provide additional space and opportunities for existing companies to grow and new companies to locate.
 
   Key Characteristics: 
  • Makes the county more attractive for outside companies to look at.
  • Creates opportunity to have "shovel ready ground" for interested companies to obtain.
  • Provides locations for local companies to expand.
  • Makes good use of CREDIT funds.
  • Uses LDC to invest in county for future development.  

Goal 5:  Improve the workforce in Fulton County by partnering with schools and employers to ensure the workers of today and tomorrow have the requisite skills to succeed.
 
   Key Characteristics: 
  • Helps residents become focused on the critical relationship between the skills they possess and what skills are needed to successfully continue employment.
  • Obtain improved employment with their current employer, and obtain new employment in different fields of work.
  • Provides affordable and easily accessible education opportunities for current and displaced workers.
  • Provides communication between school systems, community leaders and FEDCO to make this a joint and cost effective effort.  

Goal 6:  Community Focus Development.
